Will your website be ranked better because you embed a promo video?

We're doing some experimenting here at Influx. It well-known that Google ranks video content as quality content, but how does the world's best search engine decide on what is quality video content, and what is not?

It's safe to assume that the algorithm is giving a lot of weight to YouTube data, such as; views, comments, thumbs-up/thumbs-down, repeat viewing etc. But there is more to it than that, and we want to see how much value Google gives to shorter, promotion videos, embedded on websites.

Google search ranking: Fine art or exact science?

1/8/2020

Google make over 3200 changes to their search algorithms, every year

According to Jumpshot and SparkToro, 49% of all searches performed on Google result in a no-click. So, despite people thinking they know what they want when they search for something on Google, the reality is that almost half of all searches don't lead to any website traffic.

The real question is, what does it mean for SEO in 2020, that almost half of all searches on Google won't send traffic to any website at all. For starters, people are either giving up on searches or they're getting the answers right then and there from Google, maybe its a website address they're looking for, or a number that is presented by Google Business listings. In 2020, it can be expected that this decline in organic traffic will continue.
The big change for 2020 is that the number of visitors that people are going to get from organic traffic is going to continue to decline.

Watch this really information video, from Neil Patel. Neil is one of the worlds leading SEO consultant. In addition to Googles own search engine optimisation tools, we use the software developed by Neil, to improve your websites Google ranking, as part of our digital marketing campaigns.

    Golden rule

SEO and content creation are more of a fine art than they are an exact science.  The goalposts are forever being changed, and keeping up-to-date with them can be exhausting.

Essentially, you should look at algorithm changes more as things to actively avoid falling-foul of, rather than a standard to be constantly chasing and never acheiving.

Businesses need to focus their efforts and resources on creating useful, attractive content, that is timeless and that people actually want to find, as opposed to being constantly trying to hustle the constantly changing Google algorithm.

Google isn't dumb, it recognises when a site is purely designed to win keyword bingo, and it also knows if a website offers no actual useful content for consumers. Your site will be down-ranked if you try to game the system, so, just focus on creating original and engaging content, it pays dividends in the long-run.
